The cholera outbreak in South Sudan continues to spread. A total of 2613 cholera cases including 63 deaths have been reported in the country between 23 April and 1 July 2014. The worst affected area is Juba County with a total of 1334 cases. Cases are also being reported from the following states: Central Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria, Jonglei, Upper Nile and Western Equatoria.

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
