Yellow Fever in Ethiopia (Update)

New cases of yellow fever have continued to be reported in Ethiopia since the outbreak was first reported in May 2013. By the end of June, more than 130 case had been reported and the government, with support from health partners, has reached 480 000 people out of the 600 000 targeted by the second phase reactive Yellow Fever vaccination campaign.

Advice for Travellers

There is a risk of yellow fever in certain parts of Ethiopia and travellers should discuss their individual risk with a healthcare professional. In addition, vaccination might be required for certificate purposes. Travellers should also be advised to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
