A total of 48 595 cases of malaria have been reported in Venezuela, according to Epidemiology Report No. 31, issued by the Ministry of Health. The figure is 8 120 cases above that reported a year ago, when the ministry recorded 40 475 cases. The situation is critical in the state of BolĂvar, where most cases have taken place (41 475).
