The chikungunya outbreak in Samoa is ongoing with the number of cases rising from 51 to 269 in the last two week. The general environmental clean-up and spraying of mosquito breeding sites is continuing with aircraft and ships now being sprayed. It is hoped to have the outbreak under control in advance on a major United Nations conference in Apia next week, where 3000 delegates from around the world are expected to attend.
