Ross River Virus in Australia (Update)

Residents of the Hunter region, New South Wales, are being urged to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes following a surge in notifications for the Ross River Virus this year (2014). To date there has already been 152 confirmed cases of the virus within the Hunter region, up from 96 last year (2013).

Advice for Travellers

Travellers should be made aware of the risk of Ross River virus infection in Western Australia, particularly if visiting during the summer months in Australia. Travellers should take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
