The resurgence of cholera in Haiti is ongoing. In 2014, almost 15 000 cases have been recorded, including 132 related deaths. Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) report that more than 2000 suspected cholera cases have been hospitalised in Port-au-Prince since mid October.
Access to clean water and latrines remains a problem for the a majority of Haitians.
Cholera is considered a low risk for travellers who have access to safe drinking water and who maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and food safety.
Cholera vaccine is available for those mixing closely with the local population who cannot ensure safe water/food and a good standard of personal hygiene.
