The media has reported on further human cases of avian influenza (H5N1) in Egypt. The most recent case is a a 42-year-old woman from Sohag Governorate located in the southern part of the country (Upper Egypt).
A total of 20 human cases of avian influenza (H5N1) have been reported during 2014, in Egypt. Of those, 9 have been fatal cases, 8 have recovered and 3 are currently receiving medical treatment.
