Pertusssis in Canada

16 January 2015

Central Alberta's medical health officer reported that cases of pertussis (whooping cough) are still being diagnosed in central Alberta, the only health zone in the province experiencing an outbreak. There were 128 confirmed cases in 2014 and 1 case so far in 2015.

Advice for Travellers

It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses of pertussis vaccine in accordance with the UK schedule. The JCVI recommends pertussis boosters for pregnant women, but not for other adults in the UK.
