Cholera in Malawi (Update)

A few more cholera cases have been reported in the current outbreak in Malawi. As of 22 February 2015, a total of 24 cases have been recorded. Two new cases have been identified since 19 February 2015.

The Ministry of Health is monitoring the situation.

Advice for Travellers

Cholera is a low risk for most travellers.

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
