Avian Influenza A (H5N1) (Human) in Egypt (Update)

New human cases of avian influenza A (H5N1) continue to be reported from Egypt. The Ministry of Health and Population has reported to WHO, a total of 116 laboratory confirmed cases, including 36 deaths, thus far in 2015.

The first human case of avian influenza A (H5N1) in Egypt was identified in 2006. There has been a recent upsurge in cases that began in November 2014, and the total number of cases and deaths reported since 2006, now stands at 318 and 112 respectively.
