Dengue Fever in Taiwan

In the past week, 6 new case of locally acquired dengue fever have been reported in Taiwan. This brings the total number of cases in 2015, to 108. Five of the 6 new cases were identified in Nanzih district of Kaohsiung City.

Taiwan is now in the dengue season and the public is advised to regularly remove potential mosquito breeding sites around the home and maintain a clean environment.

Advice for Travellers

Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, is recommended. Bite avoidance measures include: covering up with clothing, the use of insect repellent and bed nets impregnated with insecticide. Reduction of mosquito breeding sites around hotel rooms/homes is advised for longer term stays.
