Dengue Fever in Honduras (Update)

As of 25 May 2015, the department of Comayagua in central Honduras has recorded a total of 544 suspected cases of dengue fever. The municipality worst affected is Comayagua with 446 cases. Nationally in Honduras, 15 637 probable cases of dengue fever have been reported.

Advice for Travellers

Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, is recommended. Bite avoidance measures include: covering up with clothing, the use of insect repellent and bed nets impregnated with insecticide. Reduction of mosquito breeding sites around hotel rooms/homes is advised for longer term stays.
