The media has reported on Malaria in Goa in the south-west of India. The incidence of malaria in Mapusu is increasing in 2015, compared with 2014. Between January and April 2015, around 650 malaria cases were reported; in 2014, around 600 cases were recorded for the entire year.
The worst affected areas of Mapusu include: Cunchelim, Karaswada, Acoi, Duler, Ansabhat and Khorlim.
The authorities are conducting awareness campaigns and recommending measures to reduce mosquito breeding sites prior to the onset of monsoon.
