Yellow Fever in Peru

The Ministry of Health for Peru has published information on the number of cases of yellow fever in the country for 2015. As of 16 May 2015, 13 cases (including one fatality) of yellow fever have been reported. The regions reporting cases include: Cusco (1), Huanuco (1), Junin (2), Loreto (1), Puno (2), Madre de Dios (1) and San Martin (5).

Advice for Travellers

These regions are all within the yellow fever risk areas of Peru and WHO recommends yellow fever vaccination for all travellers (unless contraindicated) aged over 9 months to these areas. Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
