West Nile Virus Infection in Israel (Update)

During the past week, 7 new cases of West Nile Virus (WNV) were identified in the following areas: Tel Aviv (3) and Central District (4). As of 27 August, Israel has reported a total of 14 cases of WNV infection thus far in the 2015, season.

Advice for Travellers

There is no vaccine or specific treatment for WNV. Infection is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito, therefore avoidance of mosquito bites is essential, by covering up and the use of bite avoidance measures.
