17 September 2015

The previously reported autochthonous case of the mosquito borne viral disease, chikungunya, in Valencia is now being called a false positive. Following established protocols health authorities have carried out a further two tests and have confirmed that the patient was not infectied with the virus. Therefore there is no evidence of transmission of chikungunya in Spain. All 21 cases of the disease reported to date in Valencia are classified as imorted
