Malaria in Venezuela

An increase in the number of malaria cases in Venezuela has been reported. A total of 88 000 cases have been reported in the southern state of Bolivar, thus far in 2015. This equates to a 55.3% increase compared with the same time period in 2014, and has been declared an epidemic.

The majority of cases (88.48%) have been reported from the municipality of Sifontes in Bolivar state.
