Dengue Fever in India (Delhi) (Update)

Dengue fever is an ongoing problem in the city of Delhi, northern India. The media has described the outbreak as the worst since 1996. As of 2 November 2015, a total of 14 889 cases have been reported. The official number of dengue related deaths is 32.

Advice for Travellers

Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, is recommended. Bite avoidance measures include: covering up with clothing, the use of insect repellent and bed nets impregnated with insecticide. Reduction of mosquito breeding sites around hotel rooms/homes is advised for longer term stays.
