Dengue Fever in the Philippines (Update)

Dengue fever is an ongoing risk in the Philippines. As of 01 October 2015, a total of 142 227 cases have been reported nationally. The worst affected regions include: Central Luzon (25 049 cases), Calabarzon (24 661), National Capital (17 925), Ilocos (11 396) and Cagayan Vallery (8131 cases).

Advice for Travellers

Avoidance of mosquito bites, particularly during daylight hours, is recommended. Bite avoidance measures include: covering up with clothing, the use of insect repellent and bed nets impregnated with insecticide. Reduction of mosquito breeding sites around hotel rooms/homes is advised for longer term stays.
