Between 30 December 2015 and 2 January 2016, the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China notified WHO of 2 laboratory-confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H5N6) virus.
Both cases are female, the first is from Baoan District, Shenzhen City, with onset date of 24 December and the second is from Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing City, with onset date of 22 December. Both cases are now in a critical condition.
