Kenya has increased surveillance for yellow fever after a patient died at the Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi while being treated for the disease. The patient had recently returned from Angola.
The risk of yellow fever is very low for travellers to Nairobi. There is a risk of yellow fever, mainly in the Western part of Kenya and vaccination maybe advised for travellers (unless contraindicated). There is an ongoing outbreak of yellow fever in Angola and vaccination is recommended.Travellers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.
