Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever in India

A new case of Crimean-Congo heamorrhagic fever (CCHF) has been reported from the Ahmedabad district, state of Gujaret. The civic body's health department officials have reported 3-4 cases of the CCHF virus infection this year (2016).

Advice for Travellers

CCHF is a low risk for the average traveller; it is spread by infected ticks from a reservoir usually in animals such as cattle, sheep and goats. Avoidance of tick bites is essential in risk areas.
