Advice for Travellers

Spread mainly through person to person contact via the faecal-oral route. Particularly in areas where sanitation is poor. This country remains endemic for polio (reporting circulation of indigenous wild polio viruses in the past 3 years). Ensure all travellers have received a full primary course of poliomyelitis vaccine.

Polio Vaccination Exit Recommendations

TRAVAX recommends that travellers visiting this country for longer than 4 weeks should receive a booster dose of a polio containing vaccine if they have not had one in the past 12 months. They should carry proof of having had this vaccination. For further details please look at News Item and Polio FAQ’s.
