Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever in Afghanistan

A media reportLink  of the 15 September 2016 asserts that there have been  71 cases of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) in Afghanistan in the past year, with at least 14 deaths reported.

Advice for Travellers

CCHF is spread by infected ticks from a reservoir usually in animals such as cattle, sheep and goats. CCHF can also be transmitted by contact with the blood of an infected animal. Avoidance of tick bites is essential in risk areas.
