continues to report deaths in Pakistan in patients suffering from Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in 2016. CCHF is a deadly viral disease that spreads through tick-bites in animals and people.
In Karachi a total of 9 deaths from CCHF have been reported, 6 were in private hospitals and 3 in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. Over 71 CCHF cases have been admitted to hospitals in Karachi this year.

CCHF is a low risk for the average traveller; it is spread by infected ticks from a reservoir usually in animals such as cattle, sheep and goats. CCHF can also be transmitted by contact with the blood of an infected animal. Avoidance of tick bites is essential in risk areas.
