The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reports measles continues to be transmitted in Europe, with the potential for further spread.
Germany has reported 32 cases since 18 August 2017, bringing the total from 1 January to 30 August 2017 to 860 measles cases.
Ireland has reported two cases in the week ending 26 August 2017, bringing the total in 2017 to 8 cases.
Italy has reported 108 cases since 18 August 2017, bringing the total from 1 January to 29 August to 4 328 cases, including three deaths.
Romania has reported 134 cases including 1 death since 25 August 2017. From 1 January 2016 to 25 August 2017, Romania has reported 8 937 cases, including 33 deaths. Of these, 6 968 cases were reported in 2017.
The United Kingdom (media) has reported a further case in South Wales on 29 August, bringing the number of cases in the present Welsh outbreak to 17.

Charging for Measles Containing Vaccine:
It should be confirmed that children have received their recommended doses of MMR at 12-13 months of age and again pre-school around 3 years 4 months. Consider vaccinating all unimmunised adults who have not had the disease themselves, particularly if they are going to be at higher risk. Two doses of MMR vaccine, at least one month apart, are required to give adequate protection.
