The outbreak of malaria in Cape Verde (in Portuguese) continues, with 110 cases reported in the capital city, Praia since the beginning of July. At this time, the outbreak is limited to the capital. All cases are the dangerous falciparum form of malaria. As the malaria transmission season is beginning and ongoing incidence indicates antimalarial chemoprophylaxis for some travellers, updated prevention advice is given.

Low to no risk of P.falciparum in all parts of Cape Verde, except the capital city Praia (see additional advice below).
