Guinea - International Measures to Stop the Spread of Poliovirus Update

It is more than three years since circulation of polio in Guinea.

TRAVAX methodology requires that polio vaccine is recommended for travellers for a total of three years following the last case report, polio vaccine is therefore no longer recommended for travellers to Guinea.

Advice for Travellers

Polio is spread mainly through person to person contact via the faecal-oral route. Particularly in areas where sanitation is poor. Travellers should take strict precautions with food, water and personal hygiene.
