On 24 June 2019, media reports
(in Spanish) quoting public health authorities in Iceland and Spain stated that recent cases of chikungunya in Icelandic travellers to Spain in recent days have now been discounted. The original reports of infection were a result of laboratory error in Iceland.
There is no evidence of transmission of chikungunya in Spain at this time.
