The Panamerican Health Organization reports continued transmission of yellow fever in South American countries. From 1 January 2025 to 24 April 2025, countries reporting cases are:
Bolivia: La Paz (1 case, died) and Tarija (1 case).
Brazil: São Paulo (50 cases, 28 deaths), Pará (42 cases, 7 deahs), Minas Gerais (9 cases, 5 deaths) and Tocantins (1case, died),
Colombia: Caldas (1 case, died), Caquetá (1 case, died), Meta (2 cases, 1 death), Putumayo (3 cases, 1 death), and Tolima (46 cases, 17 deaths)
Peru: Amazonas department (19 cases, 6 deaths), Huanuco department (6 cases, 2 deaths), San Martin department (8 cases, 3 deaths)
In addition, the Ministry of Health in Ecuador reported 3 cases of yellow fever in that country on 28 April 2025, including 1 in Zamora Chinchipe province.
Yellow fever is an acute viral disease which is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. It is found in tropical areas of Africa and Central and South America.
All travellers should be advised to practice mosquito bite avoidance at all times.

Unvaccinated travellers who visit yellow fever endemic areas are at risk of becoming infected.
