The Health Council for Dhala (Ad Dali) governorate in the southwest of the country has taken steps to improve the quality of potable water from drinking wells. This follows the death of 38 individuals from cholera in the past month. Cases of cholera have been occurring in some areas of the province, however further information on the outbreak in not available at this time. This information is via a media report and the outbreak has not been officially confirmed.

Travellers to Yemen should maintain a good standard of food, water and personal hygiene at all times. Vaccination against cholera is available for those going into outbreak areas who cannot ensure access to safe drinking water and good sanitation.
