The media has reported on a new cholera outbreak in Kano state in the northwest of the country. Around 600 suspected cases have been recorded and within the last month around 39 cholera associated deaths have been identified in the city of Kano.
Advice for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
