Cholera in Nigeria (Update)

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported in the media that at least 71 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of Cholera in Kano state was first reported on November 6th, 2013.

A total of 2165 suspected cases have been recorded from 22 local government areas of Kano state.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
