The World Health Organization (WHO) and partners are seeing some improvement in the ongoing cholera outbreak in South Sudan.
Cholera cases have been declining since 20 July 2015, however, the risk to young children and other vulnerable groups in South Sudan continues. As of 10 August 2015, a total of 1519 cholera cases have been reported since June with children under five and 5-9 years of age being most affected in Juba and Bor counties.

Cholera is a low risk for most travellers. Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food/water precautions and personal hygiene should be maintained whenever possible.
