In Syria, 6 new cases of vaccine derived poliovirus (cVDPV2) have been reported on 30 August 2017. All were in Deir-Ez-Zour governorate, where most cases in the current outbreak have been. Onset of paralysis of the most recent cases was on 10 July 2017. This new report brings the total in the outbreak to 39.
Syria is classified by the WHO as a polio infected country.
