West Nile Virus in Greece

As of 31 Jul 2011, 3 human cases of West Nile infection had been reported in Thessaly to the Hellenic CDC. These are the 1st cases of 2011. The onset of illness of the 1st case was 16 Jul 2011.

Advice for Travellers

West Nile virus is spread by mosquito bites. It has become more widely recognised in recent years. Travellers should take precautions to prevent mosquito bites especially during summer months.
