As of 13 Sep 2011, confirmed acute encephalitis syndrome cases in India have reached 4458 with 584 deaths. Of these, Uttar Pradesh reported 1782 cases, Assam (1308), Tamil Nadu (404), West Bengal (341) and Bihar 288 cases.
