Typhoid Fever in Philippines

At least 104 suspected typhoid cases were reported to the Department of Health (DOH) in Leyte as of Saturday. Most of the cases are from Carigara District Hospital where the patients go for check-up. The patients came from towns of Capoocan, Carigara, Barugo, and Tunga in Leyte.

Typhoid vaccine is usually recommended for those visiting the Philippines. Precautions with food and water hygiene is also recommended as the vaccine is not fully effective in protecting against typhoid fever.
