The outbreak of cholera in Kunene Region in north western Namibia is ongoing. To date, a total of 107 cases including 7 deaths have been reported.
The Directorate of Health is receiving support in dealing with the outbreak from various sources: the Office of the Governor, the Namibia Red Cross Society, and the Kunene Regional Council.
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
