The Ministry of Health of South Sudan reported an ongoing cholera outbreak in Juba, Central Equatoria State. To date, 18 suspected cholera cases have been reported with one death, one of whom was laboratory confirmed on 6th May 2014. The 18 suspected cases originate from Gudelle 2, Gudelle 1, Juba Nabari, Jopa, Kator, Gabat, Mauna, Newsite, MTC, Nyakuron, and Munuki block A.

Travellers to outbreak areas are advised to maintain a high standard of food, water and personal hygiene. Only those who may have direct contact with infected individuals, or those who cannot maintain safe food and water precautions, should be vaccinated.
