The media has reported a total of 10 human cases of avian influenza A(H5N1) in Egypt during the first 9 months of 2016. Since March 2006 Egypt has reported 356 human cases of avian influenza A(H5N1), this includes 121 deaths.
H5N1 may present with mild or moderate symptoms, it is therefore assumed that a number of cases go uncounted.
