In the first two weeks of January 2013, 817 new cholera cases were reported in Artibonite Department, this compares with 619 cases during the same time period in December 2012. Between 15 December 2012 and 15 January 2013, 8643 cases with 126 deaths were reported countrywide.

Advice for Travellers
Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene should also be maintained.
